Hey All!
This is the first post for my Freelance Friday segment. There is a romanticized notion that being a freelance writer is a whimsical, magical, and work-free occupation. I’m here to tell you that could not be further from the truth. There is A LOT of work behind the scenes. You are you’re own marketer, sales person, admin assistant, etc. Yes, freelancers wear many hats. Now you’re probably wondering, “If it’s so hard, why do it”. Well, I do it because I love it.
I enjoy working with different companies helping their brand’s mission come to fruition. Plus, I love the autonomy that it provides. I like that I can pack up and take off without restrictions. Granted, I have to make sure my work is all done, but you get the idea. So this segment is for anyone who wants to understand what freelancing really entails and how to find your way into this weird yet lovable profession. Basically, my biggest goal is to shed some insight and transparency behind my work.
In the upcoming posts, I’ll talk about the different types of writing niches you can get involved in. Plus I’ll go over how to land/find clients, how to pitch articles/yourself, and anything and everything else you guys would like to know. In the meantime, feel free to ask questions and I’ll answer them to the best of my ability!
