About Me

I had to write about myself recently and I’ve decided to share it with you all. It’s pretty much me in a nutshell. Also I feel the need to mention, I’ve been told I’m funny from time to time, so there’s that. 😉

One could say I have an unhealthy appreciation for Starbucks. During my time in university at Northern Arizona as a political science major roughly 99.9% of my studying/homework was done in a Starbucks. Aside from my caffeine addiction, I come from a family of musicians and I am one myself. Since I was 16, I’ve taught music to others particularly working with kids. I am an avid reader and enjoy reading many genres including, fiction, nonfiction, and biographies. When I’m not doing all of the above I enjoy walking to the dog park with my 2 year old Brittany Spaniel, Abbey. She’s very smart and athletic, so she keeps me on my toes in the best way. I also enjoy reading up on the latest in tech-startups. During my time in college, I worked at my student technology center where I became interested in technology and its development. I am a big fan of founders like Alexis Ohanian and Jan Koum. I also enjoy sports, particularly basketball. Being a southern California native, I do root for the Lakers, however I am a fan of the Phoenix Suns as well. Listening to music is also a passion of mine. If you shuffle through my iPod, you could literally go from death metal to classical to jazz, to EDM within 4 clicks. There is something great in every musical genre, so why not listen to them all? Except for country; though I can appreciate the musical talent many country singers possess, I find the majority of their themes to be depressing.  To sum it all up, I am a caffeinated, musically inclined reader, who spoils her dog while watching sports and checking in on the Silicon Valley scene, that loves to write.

What Makes Me Tick?

Being someone who has been in a perpetual state of standstill, I envy/am in awe of those around me who have purpose. To be specific, the friends who have goals/dreams or things they have the conviction of carrying out. I’m on day #2 of being a bum and it honestly feels like I’ve awakened and have been thrust back in the this world called “life” and I’m years behind because I was off elsewhere. For the better part of 2 years I’ve been doing what I “thought I was supposed to do” rather than finding out what makes me fulfilled. It’s weird to say that I’m not quite sure what it is that I’m passionate about per se. I’m pretty good at a lot of things and have a decent knowledge of a broad amount of topics. It’s like that saying “jack of all trades, master of none”. I’m excited to start my journey of self discovery and see where it takes me. Granted I’m not going to go to the desert and smoke peyote or something, but hey who knows? 😉
